YOUNG CHILDREN'S CLASSES
MOM & ME (Ages 2-3)
A 45 minute class introducing basic movement and dance skills to our youngest students. Moms take an active roll in class, as creativity, and self expression are encouraged through movement, music and games.
CREATIVE MOVEMENT (Ages 2-3)
A joyful way for children to explore movement through music, develop physical skills, channel energy, stimulate imagination and promote creativity in 45 minutes of fun.
TUMBLE TOTS (Ages 3-4)
Tumble Tots is a 45 minute class that is perfect for young ones eager to move! Students will be introduced to a structured yet fun physical class. This program aims to help students develop basic motor skills and coordination through skipping, balancing, jumping, rolling and basic tumbling moves. This exciting class involves the use of matts and various tumbling equipment in a safe environment.
PRESCHOOL COMBO (Ages 3-4)
A fun introduction to the basic principles, positions, and vocabulary of ballet and tap dance. This one hour class is structured to introduce students to the beginning disciplines of dance in an age appropriate manner. Students also explore movement and music through rhythmic games and movement exercises.
KINDER & ADVANCED COMBO (Ages 5-6)
Age appropriate progressive instruction in the fundamentals of ballet and tap (or jazz/hip hop) dance with gradual increases in the level of technical skill and performance.
*In addition to the instructor, classes of 3-6 year olds may have a student teaching assistant.
CLASSES FOR AGES 7 & UP
A highly structured and rigorous discipline, ballet is the foundation for all other forms of dance. Proper body alignment and precise execution of movements are stressed. Ballet promotes the development of strength, flexibility, endurance, poise and grace. Ballet technique classes are highly recommended for any student who wishes to continue on to more advanced levels of dance.
JAZZ & HIP HOP
Fast paced classes consisting of isolation exercises, stretching, progressive steps and combinations set to contemporary music. Incorporates various styles and the latest trends. A weekly ballet class is recommended to supplement jazz & hip hop training.
Tap classes emphasize the development of rhythm, coordination, syncopation and the ability to translate musical rhythms into tap patterns. Class consists of a tap-barre, traveling steps and combinations. Broadway theatre tap and the latest rhythmic jazz tap are explored.
For advanced ballet students only. Pointe work requires appropriate physical strength, technical ability and a thorough knowledge of proper alignment and vocabulary. Only serious ballet students with several years of rigorous training may be considered for pointe. Class is by invitation/audition only.
A genre of dance which incorporates a collection of methods and techniques found in ballet, modern, post modern, jazz, hip hop and others. Expresses and reflects through movement an individual point of view and emotion by using all types of movement from stylized to pedestrian.
A class that explores the dance styles and trends of different eras, as depicted in American musical theatre. Students also study and re-create famous dance numbers from Broadway productions.
TECHNIQUE & CONDITIONING
A class for experienced dancers interested in polishing their skills and furthering their technique. Focus is on the fundamentals of body alignment, the proper execution of dance movements including leaps and turns and the growth of flexibility.
BREAKDANCING (Ages 7 & Up)
A street-based dance style which evolved out of hip hop culture. Incorporates intricate body movements, coordination, style, flexibility, and rhythm. Since some moves are borrowed from gymnastics and martial arts, upper body strength is emphasized.
ACRO/TUMBLING (Ages 5 & Up)
Designed to introduce students to acrobatics and tumbling in a fun and safe environment. Students will work on flexibility, balance and control while learning forward rolls, bridges, cartwheels, handstands and various tumbling moves on mats. Each student is worked with individually at their level in order to meet their strengths and achieve personal goals.
Zumba is an aerobic exercise routine inspired by Latin dance. Classes fuse hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy to follow moves to create a dynamic fitness program. An exhilarating hour of calorie-burning, body energizing fun.
BALLET, TAP, JAZZ
Fundamentals of classical ballet, tap, jazz or hip hop dance techniques taught with the mature, adult body in mind. Beginner level positions, exercises, terminology and choreographers are covered.
Stretching and meditation exercises to aid in reducing stress, while developing strength, flexibility and muscle tone.
ANNUAL RECITAL PERFORMANCE
Performing is an important part of dance education. Our annual performance offers students the opportunity to demonstrate their progress and learn valuable performance skills. Participation is optional. A non-refundable $85.00 ($75.00 for Preschool classes) per recital costume fee is due with November tuition.
